The Philippine archipelago just got a little bit smaller with the launch of the Philippine Airline’s new Davao to Clark route. The three-times weekly service was officially launched in a simple yet colorful ceremony last February 1 at the Davao International Airport.
In attendance of the event were Department of Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo Tulfo and Mindanao Development Authority Secretary Datu Abul Khayr Dangcal Alonto. They were joined by PAL Senior Assistant Vice President for Sales Philippines Harry Inoferio, Senior Vice President Legal and Corporate Communications & General Counsel Atty. Siegfred Mison, and Victor Suarez, Area Head Mindanao Sales & Services to witness the maiden flight.
The event was the fulfilment of the promise of Mr. Inoferio to connect Northern Luzon with Visayas and Mindanao. In an earlier press con at the Marco Polo Cebu last January 26, Philippine Airlines announced the opening of eight new domestic routes; Cebu to Puerto Princesa, Cebu to General Santos, Cebu to Surigao, Cebu to Coron, Clark to Coron, Clark to Puerto Princesa, Clark to Cebu and Clark to Davao.
“The flights from Davao connect with the flights from Cebu to Coron, Surigao, and Puerto Princesa,” said Mr. Inoferio.
“We are adding more flights coming to and from Clark to decongest the the airport in Manila,” he added, “The new flights also allow residents in Pampanga, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pangasinan, and even as far as Baguio, to visit Cebu and Davao without the long drive to Metro Manila.”
Philippine Airlines’ Davao to Clark and vice versa service flies every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Promotional fare for the new routes are also now available online at PAL’s website as well as at all PAL ticketing offices.
