Cebu Pacific launches new domestic flights

The Philippine archipelago just got a little bit smaller as leading carrier, Cebu Pacific Air, recently launched two new flights between Davao and the cities of Dumaguete and Tacloban at the Jade Ballroom of the Marco Polo Davao which was attended by city government officials from Davao City, Dumaguete and Tacloban, as well as by tourism and business stakeholders from their respective regions.

Starting July 26, the airline now flies three times a weel (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) to Duaguete and four times a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) to Tacloban and vice versa starting July 27.

In her address, CEB corporate communications director Charo Lagamon said with the new routes, Davao’s position as one of the airline’s hubs is strengthened. “The addition of the flights mean that Cebu Pacific now has over 150 flights to and from Davao International Airport.” she added.

The new flights from Davao were among five new flights launched recently by Cebu Pacific’s CebGo fleet utilizing ATR turbo prop aircraft and further expands CEB’s network, the biggest in the Philippines. “This year, we target to fly 20 million passengers. For the first quarter of this year, a total of 4.8 million passengers were already served by the airline.”

Department of Tourism assistant secretary Eden Josephine David, in a statement, said the new connections will serve over 10 million tourists, both domestic and foreign and will also mean endless opportunities for businesses and travellers alike.

Aside from launching the new flights, Cebu Pacific also introduced the winners of the recently concluded Juan For Fun Backpacker’s Challenge where two teams from Davao made it to the finals and one team, Team Juanton, composed of college students, Davao went home with the top prize of travel-all-you-can passes to any domestic or shorthaul Cebu Pacific destination for one year.
