Makati City is the bustling business heart of Metro Manila. For business and vacation travellers alike, Makati is where the glitzy shopping, as well as various fancy dining establishments can be found. But sometimes Makati can get too hectic with its loud sea of people and crazy traffic situation.
There is, however, a corner of Makati that is more relaxed than the usual but uncompromising when it comes to the complete business and leisure travel experience and this chic place is called Rockwell Center which is best experienced by staying at Aruga by Rockwell.
Staying true to its name, with “aruga” meaning “nurture” in Tagalog, the team at Aruga by Rockwell is dedicated to providing each guest with a memorable stay. For each type of stay, Aruga’s studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom suites are fully equipped and outfitted in chic Asian contemporary style.
All of Aruga’s suites are provided with a fully-equipped kitchen, and, larger rooms with a living and dining area. This allows guests staying for longer the freedom to prepare their own meals, and larger groups with more comfort and space.
Coming from another trip prior to my stay at Aruga, I was able to wash my clothes using my one-bedroom executive suite’s washing machine and dryer. This saves me the hassle of looking for a laundromat as well as saves me money and he much treasured airline baggage allowance.
Chic choices at your fingertips
Shopaholics will love the fact that Aruga by Rockwell is located directly across the famous Powerplant Mall. Although small when compared to many of Metro Manila’s shopping malls, the Powerplant more than compensates when it comes to shopping options from local brands to international designer labels.
Food lovers will find that Rockwell is the perfect place to hold a food crawl with friends. I did a short food crawl, myself, starting from inside the Powerplant Mall I had my ramen fill, then walked my way out towards the alfresco dining area for some wine and Spanish tapas, then I took a short walk towards Dean and Deluca for some of their famous breads, then ended the evening at Rambla with more wine and more tapas.
With a more laid back atmosphere, many second wave and third wave coffee places can also be found within the area. Notable would be the Refinery located at Joya Towers, and Single Origin which is just a short walk from Aruga’s lobby.
Of course the perfect brunch is not far away as Aruga’s very own Aruga Café means guests need not even leave the building for a hearty meal. Checked in guests are treated to complimentary breakfast, while Aruga Café’s executive lunch, high tea, and happy hour are available to all. For intimate gatherings and larger meetings or meals, its private dining room is also an ideal, exclusive space. There are also function rooms where one can hold intimate events and parties.
There is definitely something for everyone at Aruga by Rockwell, for me though it is the laid back charm mixed with the urban sophistication that endears me to my stay at Aruga where the feeling of home is away from home rings true.
