THE LEGENDARY SILK ROAD is a storied route connecting Europe and Asia and is where the great explorer, Marco Polo, is said to have traversed on his journey from Italy to China. As a tribute to this east west connection, Marco Polo Davao launched its new signature drink, the Silk Road at a fun event attended by special event and media friends.
Created from overnight-infused coffee flavoured with cinnamon syrup and milk, the hotel’s latest signature drink is made with ice-blended coffee poured into a swirled, chocolate-glazed glass symbolising the roads well-travelled of the Silk Road. This is topped with marshmallow, meringue that is flambée-finished by blow torch, emanating the sun-glinting cloud-topped mountains along the legendary route.
Together with the cold and refreshing drink is a fresh smores-ispired cookie made from marshmallows and chocolate sandwiched between homemade Graham crackers and toasted to gooey perfection, inviting guests to explore the history of the Silk Road.
“We are delighted to unveil the next in the series of our signature beverages for Marco Polo Hotels. The Silk Road Iced Coffee was created during a competitive contest of fabulously designed and deliciously different coffees originated by our General Managers. The combination of iced coffee and warmed cinnamon cookies will make it one of the most appealing and flavourful drinks for our savvy guests and connoisseurs of culture,” said Mr Philippe Caretti, Vice President Operations, Wharf Hotels.
The new Silk Road Iced Coffee follows the success of the Signature Earl Grape Iced Tea which will now be part of all Marco Polo Hotels worldwide.
