Kadayawan Platinum Sponsor Philippine Airlines packed the Kadayawan Square for its major gig Pahalipay sa Kadayawan Concert on August 19.
Youtube dancing sensation and GMA actress Andrea Torres and one of the country’s hottest bands today Up Dharma Down did not disappoint as their back-to-back performances rocked the crowd at the Square. Torres lived up to her billing as the internet’s dance diva as she regaled the crowd with her energetic numbers. The multi-awarded Up Dharma Down’s calm and chill tunes like the hit “Tadhana” gave the hyped up audience some sort of cool relief in a night of swag and sway. Equally-talented local band Fifth Avenue provided the front act.
PAL, the country’s four-star flag carrier, joined the Kadayawan for the first time making the 33rd edition of the King of Festivals livelier. PAL was part of the the Hiyas ng Kadayawan pageant as sponsor of the Hiyas ng Philippine Airlines award with Sittie Aisha Salim winning the coveted plum. PAL awarded two Business Class tickets (Davao to Kuala Lumpur via Manila) to Salim, who was also the Hiyas ng Paghiusa, and Hiyas ng Kadayawan beauty Nes-Ann Naraga.
PAL also sent an entry for the “Gamay” (Small) Category in the Pamulak sa Kadayawan parade with its festively-designed float inspired by its adopted eaglet ‘Sinag’.
Exciting game prizes and freebies were given away with the participation of PAL’s affiliate companies to the hundreds of people who partied all night at the stage set up fronting the City Hall.
PAL assistant vice president for Visayas and Mindanao Sales Harry Inoferio graced the concert along with Vic Suarez, head for Mindanao Sales; Pinky Pineda and Ed Ramos, Davao Sales Managers. The PAL execs excitedly announced the upcoming inter-island and regional flights with its new aircrafts.
PAL has established Davao International Airport as a domestic hub and has stepped up promotions of Davao as a prime tourism destination. PAL operates six domestic flights out of the PAL Davao hub – to Manila, Cebu, Clark, Tagbilaran, Siargao and Zamboanga.
PAL also made its presence felt at the Tourism Promotions Board Philippines’ 2nd Regional Travel Fair held at SM Lanang, Davao, which coincided with the Kadayawan festivities. Pahalipay sa PAL organizers says this definitely won’t be the last they will participate in this annual festive activities of Davao City.
