New York, New York!   PAL commences first nonstop MNL-NY flight

The word is out. Philippine Airlines has broken the flight barrier with its first nonstop Manila to New York direct flight—the longest commercial flight by a Philippine carrier and one of the world’s top ten longest passenger flight.

This is the flight everyone from Pinoys at home to the kababayans in New York and tourists all over have been waiting for. The fastest and coziest way to fly to New York and back home to Manila where it’s stress-free and relaxing. The only thing you need to worry about and question yourself on board is—“What photos will I upload first now? My selfie with the Statue of Liberty or the beautiful scenery shot at the Top of the Rock and the obligatory pose at the crowded Times Square? (Yes, there’s wifi on-board.)

The inaugural flight that commenced on October 29, 2018 covered the distance of 8,070 miles in 14 hours and 30 minutes cruising at 41,000 feet high using the luxurious and brand new Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

PAL President Jaime J. Bautista during the send-off wished everyone a safe and fun flight through the man in command, Captain Butch Generoso assisted by 3 other pilots and 12 cabin crew who took care with the Heart of a Filipino service to 206 passengers.

Future passengers of this nonstop 14-hour flight will experience the best in-cabin dining experience on flights to and from New York as Philippine Airlines have partnered with top-rated establishments who can guarantee high-quality standards in food preparation, style and taste.

Business Class seaters will feast on elegant steakhouse-style dining on board the 4-Star carrier’ Airbus A350-900 aircraft as PAL collaborated with top global brand Wolfgang’s Steakhouse of midtown Manhattan fame to serve gourmet quality steak dinners.

On the menu of PAL’s New York route is Wolfgang’s special steak featuring USDA Prime Black Angus Beef that is dry-aged in its own specially-designed aging room, under controlled temperature and humidity for an average of 28 days.

PAL Flight PR126 offers the complete Wolfgang’s experience: French onion soup, USDA prime fillet mignon served with steamed broccoli and mashed potatoes, as well as grilled salmon in tomato and olive sauce capped with New York cheesecake.

PR127 flight from John F. Kennedy to Manila will easily make you miss and want to go back to NY with their Beverly Hills chopped salad, mushroom soup, Wolfgang’s strip loin steak, grilled Chilean seabass and key lime pie.

It was in 2013 when the flag-carrier flew nonstop Manila to Toronto using Boeing 777-300ER which the return leg had to stopover in Vancouver. Eventually Manila-Toronto flights shifted to a stopover in Vancouver. 2017, PAL introduced the first nonstop Toronto to Manila via polar route still via Vancouver. All flights to San Francisco and Los Angeles remain nonstop.

This New York-Manila flight is listed as No. 8 in the world’s longest passenger flights.
