The Department of Trade and Industry has awarded 16 NCCC stores under the LTS Retail Specialist, Inc. in Davao City the gold seal for upholding the rights of consumers while practicing responsible business.
The award is the highest given by the DTI under its Bagwis program.
The 16 stores are NCCC Panacan, NCCC Cabantian, NCCC Center Point, NCCC Supermarket Main Magsaysay, NCCC Calinan, NCCC Mall Maa, NCCC Choice Mart Talomo, NCCC Choice Bajada, NCCC Choice Mart Nova Tierra, NCCC Choice Mart, NCCC Choice Mart Landmark, NCCC Choice Mart Wood lane, NCCC Choice Mart Bolton, NCCC Choice Mart Catalunan Grande, NCCC Choice Mart NHA Buhangin, NCCC Choice Mart San Pedro.
“It is the first time that we are giving 16 gold awards for one company,” said Engr. Edwin O. Banquerigo, CESO V, and Assistant Regional Director of Department of Trade and Industry XI.
In the region 11, there 278 Bagwis awardees from the Bronze, Silver and Gold category, with the 16 of NCCC accounting for 35% of the regional gold Awards.
The LTS Retail Specialist Inc. received the awards because they were able to provide the required documentation, promote the highest level of business ethics and uphold the rights of the consumers.

The challenge is for these stores to maintain the expectation of the consumers and the accrediting body. “We are planning to have a compliance team to constantly check the compliance of the stores on the set requirements of the DTI,” said Lezlie G. Based on the new guidelines those that are awarded on 2017 will be exempted from the annual validation. The DTI will continue to have a yearly monitoring to those establishments that was awarded to ensure the consistency of their services.
The management has given assurance that the consumer gets the right services, correct amount of change, the security and safety not only the consumers but the products as well, cleanliness of the stores and the appearance of the store to make the consumers satisfied. “We are really encouraged to set up a consumer welfare desk where in there is a venue for our customers to air out their complaints and for us to be able to address their complaints as soon as possible,” said Lozada.
