Ongpin Foundation, Inc. and Phil Morris Fortune Tobacco Corporation (PMFTC), Inc. during a simple ceremony at the Headquarters Eastmincom, Naval Station Felix Apolinario (NSFA), Panacan, Davao City on April 10, 2019
The turnover of bins and receptacles is in line with the Eastmincom’s transformation objective of transforming the Command into an eco-friendly unit and in compliance to United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and Republic Act 9063 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act.
As environmentalist himself, Lt. Gen. Felimon T. Santos Jr., Commander of Eastmincom, reiterated the previous Command directive on the adherence of environmental policies and laws in NSFA and other Military Camps in Eastern Mindanao.
Prior to the arrival of the waste bins and receptacles, Col. Francisco D. Millare (Ret), the Agro-Forestry and Solid Waste Management Officer of Sunshine Philippines Movement Davao Chapter conducted Troop Information and Education on Waste Management to the personnel of all units in NSFA.
NSFA has been declared by the City Council of Davao as “Eco-tourism and Environment-friendly Military Installation” on September 25, 2012.
