A station manager of a media outfit in Sultan Kudarat is in critical condition after he was shot by an unidentified gunman Wednesday afternoon.
As of 7:00 Wednesday night, Benji Abdul Caballero, 38, acting station manager of Radyo ni Juan FM and provincial stringer for Remate tabloid, is fighting for his life at St. Louis Hospital in Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat after sustaining five bullets on his chest and other parts of his body.
In a post by one of Caballero’s associates, the veteran broadcast journalist was reportedly on his way to work when the suspect fired in front of his home at around 2:00pm.
Caballero is the admin behind the Lana Pusaka Tenelok Facebook account.
He is also the president of Sultan Kudarat provincial task force on media security.
“I hope and pray you are okay my friend Benjie Caballero, We are on it,” Usec. Joel Sy Egco of the Presidential Task Froce on Media Security, said in his social media post.
Egco said: “Kakausap ko lang sa kasama nya sa hospital…(he is) critical but alive. May dumatingnna dugo from provincial (government). We are investigating and coordinating with Tacurong City PNP.”
The police is yet to issue statement on the shooting.
