The safety and security offices of Davao City gear up for the long weekend observance of ‘Undas’ that will begin on October 31.
Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Angel Sumagaysay, on Wednesday, October 22, said the agency already prepared a security plan for the event and opted for an advance deployment of personnel in all areas.
Sumagaysay said PSSCC is looking to deploy more than 9,641 personnel composed of counterpart security units for the celebration.
“Bale integrated deployment na ito siya,” Sumagaysay said of the deployment which will cover the 35 cemeteries in Davao City.
Among the 35 burial grounds, 16 of which are considered major areas as it has huge convergence of observers.
PSSCC, however, will deploy an average of 1,928 personnel per major areas for four days starting October 31.
Sumagaysay also urged to the public to notice the “Do’s and Don’ts” during the observance which will be released to the public by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) in time.
The Task Force (TF) Davao, for its part, vowed to support the security plans of their security counterpart.
“We already received security request from some cemeteries like Forest Lake. We just encourage them to be familiarized with the security awareness the TF Davao is propagating,” TF Davao spokesperson major Ronel Legarde said.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 spokesperson Police Major Jason Baria, meanwhile, said the regional office is always ready to augment police personnel to cities and provinces in the region.
Baria said they will prioritize the convergence area like the bus terminals which are expected to be congested during the week-long celebration.
