More and more people are complying with the scanning of the Safe Davao QR (DQR) code and presentation of documents at the city’s checkpoints.

This is a big jump from the topsy-turvy first day of the implementation of DQR scanning last November 23, 2020.

There was build up of traffic also at the city’s borders because checking of travel documents took a long time. Among the reasons causing the bottle are failure to present documents that include permits, IDs, certifications and proof of appointments of those non-Davao residents who travel to the city for essential purposes.

“Sa sugod daghan napauli tungod sa lack of documents pero karon lesser na because nakasabot na sila ngano. Because we are a restricted LGU based on IATF Shield ug unsa ang kinahanglan for them to come in. Lately daghan na ang compliance,” said Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio in a live broadcast interview.

This is in line with Mayor Sara’s Executive Order No. 62 Series of 2020 to prohibit non-essential travel in Davao City to control the COVID-19 cases in Davao City because of the full occupancy of the Covid-19 beds in the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) and other hospitals.

Through EO NO. 63-A Series of 2020, Mayor Sara sought the assistance of Joint Task Force (JTF) Covid Shield to declare Davao City as restricted LGU and the enforcement of Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR) and Non-APOR travel into Davao City to insulate other LGUs from the effect of the surging cases in the city as well as to further protect the residents of Davao City.

Mayor Sara advised APOR and non-APOR to present the DQR and other documents upon checking.

The mayor also said Task Force Davao is now looking for ways to strictly implement physical distancing for persons queuing for checking.

“They (TF Davao) said they will find ways to implement ang physical distancing sa mga tao nga nagpila and there were suggestions already na sa ilaha one of their initial na actions dayon was ipintura usab tong mga lines nga naa didto sa pagpila pasulod sa Davao City and pagpila sa container van for baggage scanning,” she said.
