DELAY FACTOR

Supply of vaccines in Davao City not consistent: CHO

Dr. Ashley Lopez, head of City Health Office (CHO), admitted that the supply of vaccines in Davao City is not consistent, which is among the factors seen to delay the ongoing vaccination program in the city.

“Daghan unfortunate events nahitabo during the course of vaccination. Number one ang atong supply sa vaccines dili consistent ug ikaduha nagkaroon ta ug problema sa AstraZeneca. Ingon ani nga mga factors ang maka-pa-delay sa atoang vaccination,” Lopez said.

Lopez said it was fortunate that a number of vaccines arrived in Davao City this week including the 28,400 doses of Sinovac (CoronaVac) vaccines shipped on Wednesday.

“Maayo na lang kay ubay-ubay ang niabot karon semanaha then we received 28,400 doses of Sinovac vaccines. I am sure majority of this will be allocated to Davao City. Pero wala pa ko kabalo sa exact number kung pila. As far as allocation is concerned amoa pa na mitingan kung pila ang madawat for Davao City kay ang DOH 11 ang mu-allocate kung pila ang ihatag sa Davao City ug sa uban probinsiya,” he said.

Meanwhile, over 14,000 healthcare workers from public and private healthcare facilities in Davao City have been inoculated under the city government’s anti-Covid-19 vaccination program.

Davao City’s Covid-19 Task Force reported that the total number of healthcare workers who received the anti-Covid jabs is 63 percent of the targeted 22,000 healthcare workers. Of the 14,000, about 4,557 already received their second dose of Sinovac’s CoronaVac.

Lopez, who is also the focal person of the City’s Covid-19 Task Force, said the city is targeting to vaccinate more or less 22,000 from Group A1.

He also said if there is no interruption in the delivery and allocation of vaccine supplies, then probably by May this year the city can start the inoculation of the senior citizens.
