The City of Mati is among the top priority areas for vaccination outside the National Capital Region.
In a recent meeting of the National Inter-Agency Task Force on Covid-19 and the National Vaccine Operations Center with selected local government units all over the country, the City of Mati was one of the LGUs requested to attend along with the LGUs of Davao City, Panabo and Tagum in the Davao Region.
The meeting focused on the vaccination program implementation, specifically on the jab performance and targets of priority LGUs and on the strategies for increasing the vaccination rate.
Based on the National Covid-19 Vaccination Dashboard, the City of Mati has one of the highest vaccination rate among most populous cities in the region outside of Davao City.
The Mati Incident Management Team has started since October 4 its fixed vaccination site for walk-in vaccinees aged 18 years old and above. This is aside from the scheduled vaccination programs in the barangays.
Just recently, the Mati IMT had also started conducting house to house vaccination for those with comorbidities and/or are senior citizens.
An estimated 8,000 students of the Davao Oriental State University would also be vaccinated in preparation for the upcoming face to face classes.
The Mati IMT targets to vaccinate at least 107,000 residents of the City of Mati to achieve herd immunity. At present about 35,000 Matinians have already been fully vaccinated. (CIO MATI)
