Mati City opens mini meat processing facility, Oct. 21

Mati City LGU (local government unit) opened a meat processing facility Thursday, October 21, inside Madang Public Market.

Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat graced the blessing and inauguration of the mini meat processing facility together with City Councilor Erik Nakpil Rabat, City Veterinarian Marites Erispe, among others.

The facility has long been proposed by the City Veterinary Services Office staff to the local government, a reason they are euphoric and grateful to Mayor Rabat for its establishment.

According to Dr. Erispe, the mini meat processing facility will be a big help to Matinians who will now be provided with fresh and clean meat, chorizo and other meat products.
The facility is designed to ensure food security and safety as well as affordability of prices.

The accredited meat vendors can avail themselves the services of processing machinery.

The LGU plans to name the processed meat products “Mati’s Choice” produced by the newly inaugurated facility.

At present, a total of five meat vendors are qualified to use the facility, while four other vendors are wait-listed for accreditation.

Erispe urged other meat vendors to apply for accreditation and prepare for the requirements. (CIO-Mati / Cerelyn Cabanit)
