The regional office of the Department of Social and Welfare Development (DSWD 11) announced on Monday that 269,830 households in Davao Region will undergo Social Welfare and Development Indicators (SWDI) assessment this year.

The SWDI is a tool used to assess the level of well-being of the DSWD’s 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) partner-beneficiaries and to monitor their improvement from survival to subsistence to self-sufficiency.

Angeli Nacorda, regional case management focal, told media the agency will assess 60,976 households in Davao de Oro followed by 56,492 in Davao del Norte; 42,655 in Davao Oriental; 41,173 in Davao City; 34,484 in Davao Occidental and 34,050 in Davao del Sur.

“While none of these households are considered within as self-sufficient level of well-being, the program let the agency conduct series of self-activities under the ‘Kilos Unlad’ case management strategy to ensure that upon their exit mas minimized ang risk that they will be backsliding back to their survival level of well-being. Part of the activities for these transitioning households kaning pag conduct nato ug the SWDI and pag assess nato sa ilaha using the transition assessment form,” she said during the Kapehan sa Davao at SM City Davao on Monday.

She also reported that since the start of January this year, there has been a total of 161,000 households that exited or graduated from 4Ps.

The 4Ps covers five provinces with 49 local government units (LGUs) and 1,160 barangays in the Davao Region.

Meanwhile, John Ruzcel Sampiano, regional monitoring and evaluation officer, reported that as of May this year, there is a total of 224,172 household beneficiaries in which Davao de Oro has the highest number of active households with 51,901, which comprises 23 percent of the total number, while Davao del Sur has the lowest active households with 7,192.

He also said that for the active, there is at least 10 percent of those modified cash transfer beneficiaries while the regular cash transfer is 90 percent or 201, 995 beneficiaries.

“These numbers implicate that the population of the poor in the Davao Region is significant,” he said.

The registration for potential 4Ps beneficiaries started in February this year.

He said DSWD 11 has a target of 73,598 beneficiaries, which it has accomplished and validated 83 percent of it and the recommended for as eligible is 46,565 beneficiaries or 63 percent of the target.

The registration is still going on to validate and register the identified households and potential beneficiaries will be assessed and rated as potential and soon will become a bonafide beneficiaries of the 4Ps.
