Personnel from the Calinan Police Station in Calinan, Davao City on Tuesday arrested an individual for harassing his neighbor using a homemade firearm called “de bomba.”
Based on the report of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), Calinan Police Station received a complaint from a woman who was allegedly harassed by Christopher Hintonoro, a resident of Purok 1-C, Brgy. Talomo, Calinan District, Davao City, using an improvised homemade firearm.
The authorities conducted a Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) through One-Time, Big-Time (OTBT) and apprehended Hintonoro. One unit of “de bomba” was confiscated from the possession of the suspect.
Hintonoro is facing charges of violation of RA 10591 otherwise known as the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act” and violation of the Comelec Omnibus Election Code (BP881).
The suspect was the first individual arrested for possession of firearm since the implementation of the gun ban.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) issued the rules and regulations for the gun ban period during the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Elections (BSKE). The gun ban took effect on August 28, 2023 until November 29, 2023.
Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) earlier announced that those who have a Permit To Carry Firearms Outside Residence (PTCFOR) are not exempted from the gun ban except law enforcers on duty who are wearing uniform.
Individuals who want to carry their firearms must secure a permit from the Comelec.
