The regional office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-Davao) released its 2023 annual accomplishment report.
The report headlined under the Exports and Investments where DTI-Davao conducted and participated in 21 export investment promotion activities nationwide and these activities contributed in assisting 243 exporters regionwide and 190 investors nationwide.
This is based on the Preliminary Annual Physical Bottomlines from January to November 2023 presented by DTI-Davao during the Annual Media Interface on December 14, 2023, at The Pinnacle Hotel and Suites.
The breakdown per province: Davao City-conducted eight exports and investments, and assisted 145 exporters and 62 investors; Davao Oriental, 2 activities, 14 exporters assisted and 20 investors assisted; Davao del Sur- conducted three activities, assisted 16 exporters and 21 investors; Davao del Norte-conducted four activities and assisted 41 exporters and 30 investors; Davao de Oro- four activities and assisted 23 exporters and 50 investors; Davao Occidental- no export and investment promotion conducted, however, assisted four exporters and seven investors.
The agency has recorded a regional domestic sales amounting to P775.17 million for this year, covering market matching and facilitation, “pasalubong” center sales, trade fair sales, and firm-level monitoring among assisted micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Davao Region.
Under the Industry Development, DTI-Davao formulated 31 industry roadmaps, policies, plans, research, studies, and position papers. The agency also conducted 44 localization activities, conferences, workshops, consultative sessions, and capacity-building sessions.
Under MSME Development, the 53 Negosyo Centers across the Davao Region assisted a total of 38,534 clients and of these number, 27,857 were MSMEs and the 22,220 MSMEs belong to the priority industries. Seventy-eight percent of the assisted MSMEs are classified as growing enterprises.
In terms of assisting the MSMEs, the Negosyo Centers facilitated the conduct of 957 trainings benefiting 22,104 clients. Most of these trainings are classified as entrepreneurial, productivity, and skills training.
DTI-Davao also facilitated a total of 813 loan applications amounting to P122.65 million wherein 40.22 percent of loans facilitated ranges from P10,001 to P50,000.
A total of 18,512 Business Name Registrations (BNR) were facilitated bu DTI-Davao regionwide and released 472 Barangay Microbusiness Enterprise (BMBE) certificates during the year.
On product development and branding, DTI-Davao developed a total of 697 prototype products regionwide, the majority of which are products of the One Town One Product (OTOP) Next Generation initiatives at 69 percent.
Under the Shared Service Facilities (SSF) program, the agency launched six projects for the year with a total project cost of P2,161,235. The said project recorded a total of 3,680 MSMEs assisted; 3,958 jobs generated, and 10, 122 beneficiaries who availed of the facilities.
Since its inception in 2013, there are 218 SSF projects established regionwide of which 85 were operational and one non-operational, 125 projects transferred to cooperators, and eight were disposed of.
“Prominent among our programs are those support to MSMEs and consumer-related programs. In terms of impact, I am proud to say that we have assisted many MSMEs by helping improve their business operations through interventions given by the DTI in the region,” said Maria Belenda Q. Ambi, regional director of DTI-Davao.
In terms of consumer interventions, Ambi said DTI-Davao also does monitoring on the prices of the basic commodities.
