Land Transportation Office (LTO) Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II bared on Thursday that the agency will start auditing dealers of four-wheel vehicles and motorcycles in Davao Region to avoid backlog of license plates.
Mendoza, who was in Davao City for the blessing of the LTO North District Office, said LTO’s audit team will start going around next week starting in Cebu City and followed by Davao City.
“Starting next week we will start auditing the dealers of the sasakyan kasi meron na tayong pinag-uusapan na timeline na kailangan i-deliver nila yung plaka, ORCR, sticker yun sa mga bumili ng sasakyan sa kanila. This is an 11-day period,” he said in a press conference.
Mendoza said with this auditing scheme, the LTO commits to deliver the plates within five days from the time the dealers submit the documents for registration.
“We will start off with the dealers na mga motorsiklo at mga sasakyan. That is the audit that we are going to do,” he said.
Mendoza said if the dealers failed to comply with this they would be facing penalties like a fine of P50 to P100,000 all the way to cancellation of registration.
“Gusto nating masegurado na lahat ng plaka ay bumababa within the timeline and pag hindi nila ginawa yan may kaakibat na mga penalties yan a fine of P50 to P100,000 all the way of cancelation of registration. At sana huwag na umabot diyan,” he said.
According to LTO-Davao, in Davao Region, there are 300 dealers for motorcycles while there are less than 100 dealers for vehicles (four wheels) including their branches, and 40 surplus dealers.
“Bottomline is we want to make sure to our clientele na yung serbisyo na pinangako natin at tuloy tuloy na maibigay,” Mendoza said.
