The Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) is gearing up for the heavy influx of 50,000 to 80,000 passengers who will head home to their provinces in time for the All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day.
DCOTT Manager Aisa Usop said on Wednesday that they are expecting 1,000 to 1,500 bus trips a day, which is equivalent to 50,000 to 80,000 passengers a day for Undas.
She said this was the same data in last year’s Undas.
“If we are going to compare the average number of bus trips ang average is from 700 to 800 bus trips a day but karon na Undas we are expecting 1,000 to 1,500 bus trips a day based on the data last year. And we are expecting the same number of bus trips and the same number of passengers. That 1,000 to 1,500 bus trips is equivalent to 50,000 to 80,000 passengers a day,” she said during Wednesdays Habi at Kape at Ayala Malls Abreeza.
She said they are expecting the influx of passengers starting October 31.
As part of DCOTT’s preparation for All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day, according to Usop, they have already coordinated with the Southern Bus Operators Association (SBOA) for them to apply for a special permit to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board 11 (LTFRB 11) to augment if needed.
She also said LTFRB 11 Director Nonito Llanos III is leading in the monitoring and inspection of documents and roadworthiness of the buses at DCOTT.
For security, Usop said DCOTT has coordinated with Task Force Davao to ensure security at the entrance of the terminal.
“We also have the men in uniform from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and Civil Security Unit. We also requested them, through the Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO), na mag-augment sila ug personnel dinha sa terminal dili lang sa premises sa terminal but including outside the terminal,” she said.
Usop added that DCOTT has 32 CCTV cameras installed inside the premises and an in-house canine team.
