In a bid to support local schoolchildren and address transportation needs within Barangay Dahican, the barangay headed by Kapitan Eric Rabat has launched the Dahican School Bus service.
This modified vehicle, costing less than PHP 1 million, was funded through Barangay Dahican’s disaster and annual investment funds, demonstrating the community’s commitment to accessible education and student welfare.
The Dahican School Bus, which has a seating capacity of at least 30, will serve approximately 4,000 schoolchildren in the Dahican area.
Covering six local schools, the bus is scheduled for a morning pickup at 6:00-6:30 a.m., ensuring students arrive at school safely and on time.
The afternoon drop-off is set between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m., providing a reliable end-of-day transport for young residents.
The vehicle also serves as an evacuation and disaster response vehicle at time of calamity.
“The school bus is one of the major projects this year that’s conceptualized under the BAG-ONG DAHICAN Program that I promised to deliver to the people of Dahican” said Barangay Captain Eric Rabat.
Additionally, three new “baobao” vehicles have been provided for the use of Barangay Health Workers (BHWs).
These smaller units are intended to support BHWs in delivering essential health services within the community, further strengthening the barangay’s commitment to public health and safety.
With this school bus service, Mati City continues to prioritize accessible education and healthcare services, ensuring the well-being of its young residents and healthcare workers.
