In a significant achievement for the City of Mati and 713 other outstanding local government units (LGUs) nationwide, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has awarded the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for 2024.
This commendation highlights the city’s sustained dedication to upholding transparency, accountability, and effective governance.
Mati City, recognized for the third time under the SGLG program, stands as a beacon of good governance in Davao Oriental.
The city’s dedication to providing quality services, fostering inclusive growth, and creating a safe, sustainable environment exemplifies the standards set by the SGLG initiative.
As a three-time recipient, Mati has consistently demonstrated its commitment to addressing the needs of its constituents while adhering to ethical and responsible public service principles.
Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat expressed her gratitude for this prestigious recognition, saying, “This award belongs to every Matinian who has been part of our journey to create a city that upholds integrity, transparency, and the highest standards of public service. Earning the Seal of Good Local Governance for the third time is a testament to the hard work, commitment, and unity of our community and local government. Together, we will continue to strive for a Mati that is safe, progressive, and inclusive for all.”
This year’s SGLG recognized a total of 714 awardees from various cities, municipalities, and provinces across the Philippines, a testament to the nationwide pursuit of excellence in local governance.
LGUs that earned this accolade have gone through a rigorous evaluation process, which assesses financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, health, education, peace and order, business-friendliness, and environmental management.
The DILG has made the official list of awardees available on its website, under the “Reports and Resources” section. As the recipients of the SGLG prepare to be formally recognized, they continue to inspire other LGUs with their unwavering dedication to public service.
The people of Mati City can take pride in this achievement, a reflection of their leaders’ commitment to good governance and the community’s collective pursuit of progress and well-being.
