CHO rolls out vaccination against flu, pneumonia

The City Health office (CHO) has started providing vaccines for influenza and pneumonia in the health centers for priority groups.

The influenza or flu vaccine offered is for the general public (18 years and above) though but the priorities for now are senior citizens, persons with comorbidity, and frontliners.

Pneumococcal vaccines, however, are strictly given to senior citizens due to the limited number of available vaccines.

CHO Head Dr. Tomas Ababon, told the City Information Office, that Dabawenyos may go to their nearest health centers for the vaccination schedules.

As revealed during the CHO meeting with stakeholders for the expansion of the National Immunization Program on December 12, the city received 2,900 vials of influenza vaccines.

An official from the Department of Health XI, during the same meeting, revealed that that the stock of influenza vaccine arrived in their office last month.

Ababon said that from Wednesday, December 18, 2024, until Friday, December 20, 2024, the vaccines will be available primarily for city government employees at the Osmeña Park.

However, the Osmeña Park vaccination will also cater to walk-ins from the priority groups.

The vaccines will be distributed while the supplies last. CIO
