The Davao City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) reported an increase in its collection from January to October of this year compared to the same period last year.
As of October 2024, the CTO already collected P11,878,152,512.24. This is significantly higher than the P11,364,394,539.22 that the city collected from January to October 2023.
“Since our target for the year (2024) is P12,731,143,382, it means that the city has already accomplished 93.30 percent of our target collection for the year as of October 2024. If compared to the same period last year, we have an increase in collection of about 4.52 percent,” City Treasurer Atty. Lawrence Bantiding, said.
Bantiding added that a big portion of the collection is from business taxes and real property taxes.
In October 2023, the CTO was able to collect at least P2,587,456,337.94 of business tax while real property taxes amounted to P918,280,039.58.
During the same period this year, the CTO recorded a 5.85 percent increase in business tax, and a 2.17 percent increase in Real Property tax.
Bantiding said that based on the data, the city has already recovered from the pandemic such that business establishments in the city already declared higher gross sales or receipts.
“In 2020, the city had accomplished 100.29 percent of the target which is understandable since it was a difficult time for our business establishments given the pandemic. However, in 2023, we were able to reach 108.31 percent of our target, almost the same as our accomplishment in 2019 which is 108.58 percent,” he said.
The CTO is now gearing for the January 2025 Business Permit One-Stop Shop (BPOSS). Preparations for the collection, including the establishment of processing locations in various districts in the city to ease the processing of business permits, are underway.
“We would like to also inform the public that we have an Online Business Permit Application and Online Payment System which can be used during the renewal. The said facility had already been available since the pandemic and can be utilized by taxpayers who opt not to visit the processing locations to transact,” Bantiding said. CIO
