Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) Manager Aisa Usop announced on Wednesday that the city’s main terminal already exceeded the P38 million target income for this year.

Usop reported that as of last month, DCOTT already reached more than P48 million in revenue and she is expecting to generate more than P50 million in income for this year.

“After the Covid-19 pandemic murag mao ni ang akong pinakataas nga na reach na target,” Usop said during the Davao City Peace and Security press conference at the Royal Mandaya Hotel.

Meanwhile, Usop said that DCOTT is now gearing up for the influx of passengers in time for Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“Ready na ang overland transport terminal. In fact, with regards to the operation because kinahanglan gyud ang proper coordination with our bus operators,” she said.

Usop also said that DCOTT is coordinating with its partner agencies such as the Land Transportation Office 11 (LTO 11), Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board 11 (LTFRB 11), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 11 (PDEA 11) for the conduct of surprise drug testing among drivers and bus conductors through Oplan Harabas.

Oplan Harabas is part of a larger campaign to combat substance abuse among drivers, which poses serious risks to road safety.

“Naa na pud ta’y pagahimoon nga Oplan Harabas in partnership with the LTO and LTFRB, and PDEA. Dili man ta musulti kung kanus-a pero naa. Pagahimoon na pud na and atong hunahunaon gyud na ang kinabuhi sa atoang mga pasahero nakasalalay sa mga kamot sa atong mga drivers,” Usop said.

Usop pointed out that the screenings will serve as a reassuring signal to the commuting public about the measures being taken to ensure their safety on the roads.

Usop added that personnel from LTO 11 and LTFRB 11 will also check the documents of the bus drivers and the roadworthiness of the buses.
