FPRRD fulfills wish of girl with cancer

Former President Rodrigo Duterte made the birthday wish of a young girl with cancer of personally meeting him come true on Thursday.

In a Facebook post shared by Mars Magdael, the former president, despite the elevator being out of service, climbed the stairs to the third floor of the Children’s Cancer Institute at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) to meet the young girl.

“When the girl saw Tatay Digong, she burst into tears, hugged him tightly, and said something along the lines of, “Maraming salamat sa pagtatanggol mo sa mga pulis.” It was a deeply emotional moment, as it turned out the girl’s father is a policeman,” the post said.

The former president visited the young cancer patients at the SPMC Cancer Institute in Davao City and distributed gifts.

It has been an annual tradition of Duterte to visit the children battling with cancer every December not only to bring Christmas presents but also to provide emotional support to the children and their families during the holiday season.

Meanwhile, Duterte distributed 62 e-bikes to the families of pediatric cancer patients and residents of Balay Dangupan in Davao City.

The former president said the e-bikes will help support the livelihood of the beneficiaries’ families.
