Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) Director Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete assured on Friday that efforts to arrest the remaining suspects of the BDO Network Bank robbery in Davao de Oro are ongoing following the recent apprehension of one of the suspects.
The Compostela Municipal Police Station has reported on Tuesday the arrest of alias “Johnlee”, one of the suspects in robbery of BDO Network Bank in Compostela, Davao de Oro on December 23, 2024, which resulted in the death of the bank’s security guard. The suspects took away an estimated P3,672,270 in cash.
The Compostela Municipal Police Station said the arrested suspect was positively identified by an eyewitness on Wednesday.
“Efforts to track down the remaining suspect/s are ongoing, with law enforcement agencies working tirelessly to ensure justice is served. Authorities have vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice and provide closure to the grieving family of the fallen security guard,” said Rosete.
PRO 11 said “Johnlee” is currently under the custody of Compostela Municipal Police Station while a case of robbery with homicide is being prepared against him.
On December 23, 2024, while bank security guard Dhonald James Crucio, together with a bank a teller of the BDO Network Bank Compostela Branch, had just collected more than P3.6 million worth of cash from an establishment and were walking towards their vehicle parked nearby, two men approached and pointed guns at them.
One of the suspects opened fire at the victim when he resisted, hitting him in the chest. The victim died on the spot from the gunshot wounds.
The suspects fled away towards Monkayo area, according to the witnesses.
“Rest assured, the PNP PRO 11 will relentlessly pursue the remaining suspect/s and will leave no stone unturned in bringing them to justice. We honor the bravery of the fallen security guard and stand in solidarity with his family during this difficult time,” Rosete said.
Rosete reaffirmed the PNP PRO 11’s commitment to fighting criminality.
He also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the security guard and commended his extraordinary courage and sacrifice in the line of duty.
Meanwhile, BDO Network Bank earlier vowed to provide the necessary support to the family of Crucio.
