A total of 683,946 individuals, or 89.1% of Davao de Oro’s population, have registered with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), the Philippine Statistics Authority in Davao Region (PSA-11) reported Friday.
“This achievement underscores the province’s commitment to inclusive registration efforts,” PSA-11 said in a statement.
Among the 11 municipalities, Laak, Mabini, Montevista, and Nabunturan recorded registration rates above the provincial average. However, Monkayo, Compostela, and Pantukan reported the highest number of unregistered individuals, indicating areas that need intensified efforts.
To expedite the benefits of the PhilSys, PSA-11 began issuing paper-based national IDs in October 2022. So far, 137,175 paper IDs have been issued in Davao de Oro, representing 79.8% of the target 172,000.
The paper-based IDs contain the registrant’s PhilSys Card Number, demographic details, and a QR code for authentication, providing the same functionality and validity as the physical card.
Municipalities with the highest number of paper ID issuances include Nabunturan (21,830), Compostela (15,687), and Monkayo (15,532). Meanwhile, Mawab (7,173), Montevista (8,399), and Mabini (8,723) recorded the lowest issuance figures.
“The transition to real-time National ID in paper issuance has significantly enhanced service delivery, allowing registrants to receive their IDs immediately after registration,” PSA-11 added. (PNA)
