The Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) has assured that it has already set a security plan for the Chinese New Year celebration on January 28, 2025.
PSSO head Angel Sumagaysay told the City Information Office that in addition to the security forces from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), they will also deploy over 150 security personnel to ensure a safe and secure Chinese New Year celebration. The DCPO is set to deploy more than 200 personnel.
He said some of the security personnel will be stationed to keep an eye on Chinatown while others will be stationed near the Rizal Park activity area. The security team will be composed of the Civil Security Unit (CSU), the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), and the City Disaster Risk and Management Office (CDRRMO).
He also said that they have discussed security precautions for the scheduled events with the local Chinese community.
Additionally, Sumagaysay reminded Dabawenyos of the prohibition on firecrackers and reiterated the items that are not allowed into the activity area, including backpacks, bladed weapons, pointed objects, and non-transparent water containers.
On January 28, the program at Rizal Park will take place from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Over 200 attendees were expected to attend the activity. CIO
