Kapa Ministry and Nermie Health and Beauty Product were among those who responded to the public pronouncement made by President Duterte on Saturday ordering law enforcement agencies to shut down entities offering Ponzi-style investment scheme. According to the President, the investments craze sweeping across Southern Mindanao are a fraud and amount to syndicated estafa.
For its part, Tagum-based Nermie wrote on its social media account that it is voluntarily closing its office for one week and will stop its operations.

Meantime, a news report posted by Edge Davao elicited a reaction from a Kapa Ministry member who said its founder Pastor Joel Apolinario has reportedly suspended its operations for at least a week.
The netizen revealed that Apolinario bared in his radio program six salient points following the President’s order.
First, Apolinario reportedly regarded the President’s statement as a general statement on the subject of pyramiding scam and did not include Kapa. Second, Apolinario is willing to dialogue with the President regarding Kapa’s activities and what it has done to its members.
Third, Kapa is also reportedly saddened by alleged harassments. Fourth, it maintained that Pastor Apollo Quiboloy who interviewed President Duterte when the latter made the order, is feeling insecure because some of the members of his congregation are reportedly joining Kapa. Fifth, Kapa wishes to ask the President to look into the positive effects of Kapa to its members and sixth, for Kapa members to continue to pray.
“Busa usa ka semana matud pa nga ihunong ang operasyon, aron nga han-ayon ang tanang butang gikan sa legalidad og uban pa,” the post said in vernacular.
It ended saying: “Sa katapusang bahin sa interview, nanawagan si Pastor Apolinario sa tanang miyembro sa KAPA nga dili mabalaka sa unsa man nga nanggawas nga mga balita, og padayon sa paglaom, og mag-ampo.”
President Duterte has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and other government agencies to shut down investment schemes that are proliferating, mainly in Southern Mindanao, for conning people of their hard-earned money.
Interviewed by Pastor Quiboloy, Duterte said the activities of these investment schemes, including the Kapa Community Ministry International, are clearly a form of estafa.
Several investment schemes have sprouted in Southern Mindanao and have reportedly been branching out to as far as Luzon in recent days. These include Kapa, headed by Joel Apolinario, which promises a 30 percent “love gift” each month. Some schemes, such as the Tagum City-based Rigen Marketing, Jogle and Ever Arm, even promise a return of up to 500 percent.
In the interview, Duterte said the NBI should immediately put a stop to these schemes.
The President said he has been telling people that “when it is too good to be true, it is fraud.”
