The Chinese Government and communities in the Philippines turned-over P7 million (1-M Chinese Yuan) worth of financial support to the earthquake-hit Cor Jesu College, Inc. in Digos City.
Cor Jesu College is among those damaged by the consecutive earthquakes last October.
According to Consul General Li Lin in his speech during the turnover on December 4, the donation and many other relief programs by their government is just one of the continuous and growing cooperation and friendship mechanisms between China and the Philippines.
Consul General Lin also shared that his first visit to Digos City was with his colleague Vice-Consul Cao at the invitation of Mayor Josef Cagas to probe for exchanges and cooperation.
“We were deeply moved by the warm hospitality and friendship extended to us. When we learned that a considerable number were hit by the three major earthquakes, we decided to come back and offer our help,” Lin said.
The consulate visited Digos were they were able to donate 8,000 bags of food, blanket and some other necessities secured for the victims of Digos and three other municipalities in Davao del Sur–Magsaysay, Bansalan, and Matanao.
The Chinese Consulate is the very first foreign responder who extended their aid to their Filipino friends in need.
This China aid works would not have been possible without the help of the very efficient partnership with the Philippine Government, Digos City LGU, and the Cor Jesu College leadership.
