Mayor Sara said there are no discussions yet placing the 35 barangays in Davao City under granular lockdown but the possibility is there once the Coordinated Operations to Defeat the Epidemic (CODE) teams will be deployed in Davao City to assist in the Covid-19 response activities.
These barangays, which contribute 80 percent to the total cases of Covid-19 in Davao City, include Buhangin Poblacion, Barangay 19-B, Talomo Poblacion, Agdao, Bucana, Toril, Matina Crossing, Ma-a, Matina Aplaya, Cabantian, Catalunan Grande, Sasa, Panacan, Barangay 21, Daliao, Calinan, Brgy. 5-A, Bago Aplaya , Brgy, 27-C, Centro, Tugbok, Poblacion, Leon Garcia, Brgy. 32-D, Brgy. 9-A, Baliok, Brgy. 20-B, Tibungco, Bunawan, Lizada, Tigatto, Brgy, 28-C, Brgy, 7-A, and Indangan; and barangays with clustering of cases that include Brgy. 27-C, Brgy. Rafael Castillo, Brgy. 31-D, Brgy. Bunawan, Brgy. Paciano bangoy and Brgy 32-B.
“But (there can be) a discussion sa pagsulod sa CODE Team but kung naa na decision na ingon ana I’m sure the CODE Team will make the proper announcements at correct time,” she said.
CIDE teams will be deployed in Davao City to assist in the Covid-19 response.
Mayor Sara also said she is not expecting for these areas to be placed under granular lockdown as there are no discussions about its implementation. She said it is best to wait for the decision of the city government of Davao Task Force Covid-19.
“It may be a different direction sa CODE Teams, so we will wait sa CODE Team nga kung mag-decide sila nga mag-ECQ ug mag barangay lockdown or mag zone lockdowns sa kanang mga identified 35 barangays,” she said.
It can be recalled that National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 chief implementer Carlito Galvez has recommended for the implementation of a granular lockdown in high risk areas in Davao City.
The granular lockdown will be complemented with syndromic surveillance, which includes finding Covid-19 cases among the close contacts of infected persons.
Davao City was placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) until November 30, 2020 due to the surge of Covid-19 cases in the city.
