CLEAN SLATE : A Rose blooms; Chance for Edge Davao to watch `Swingderella’

Truth is, I seldom watch the Golf Channel.

However, every time I get the chance to turn on the TV to watch, I see Rose Zhang.
The first time I saw Rose was during a college tournament last year with her Stanford University teammates. As I watched her play, I had a feeling that this lady golfer is one player to watch.

And each time I see her on TV, I’m always reminded of our Dabawenya golf star Alessandra Zozobrado-Nagayo, nicknamed by our editor in chief Neil as “Swingderella”.

Believe me, I watch KDramas more than any other channels since Covid to keep my sanity I guess (LoL), that is why I
had a feeling that I should start following Ms. Zhang online. And so I searched for her and found her IG, an account also followed by our Dabawenya golf star.

Below her IG description as an athlete is the Bible verse, Romans 12:2. That would give you an idea on how she conducts herself as an amateur golfer and professional athlete this time.

She is now the talk in the professional golf community because Ms.Zhang won her professional tournament on her debut, at the Mizuho Americas Open hosted by Michelle Wie, becoming the second lady player to win an LPGA event on their first try since 1951. That victory gave her $412,500 prize money and an automatic LPGA Tour membership.

Next time, her PR team should tell her to avoid using that black bottle because it rubs the black rubber on her white and shiny teeth each time she would take a drink from that bottle. Bottles should always be white. Why? During the interview, it was clearly visible the black spot on her beautiful front tooth! It simply destroyed that beautiful smile. I don’t know what’s on the mind of the TV coverage team or the cameraman at that time, he or she should have kept that shot zoomed out!

Nadaut ang “Close Up” Smile! Right Edge Davao golf columnist Chito Malabanan?

Talking about Davao’s “Swingderella”, the last time we checked she was nursing an injury and hopefully she is all fine now while she is in the States for her studies.

But wait, there are information flowing to our Edge Davao Sports Desk that she may be seeing action this month at a golf club, two and a half hours by drive from our current location.

If this pushes through, this will be a great opportunity to cover!

Edge Davao is just excited!

Abangan!
