The first ever Araw ng Dabaw FIDE-Rated Rapid Open Chess Championshps will be staged on Maarch 3-4 at the Damosa Market Basket in Lanang.
Organizer James Infiesto of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines on Thursday said the tournament will offer the champion P20,000 and the prestigious trophy that comes with the title. The second placer will receive P10,000 while the third place will take home P5,000.
Cash and trophies will also go to the fourth to 5th placers while cash and medals will be given to the 6th to 10th placers.
Special categories are also up for grabs for te Top Kiddie Player for players aged 1 years old and below and the top junior player for those aged 20 years old and below.
A special prize will also await the top feale player in the tournament sanctioned by the NCFP and open to all FIDE-rated players.
A goodwill match will also be staged for Mindanao players offering P10,000 and medals for the 14 players.
Other special prizes are Top PWD, Top Senior, Top Executive and Top Employee.
