The Davao City Durians notched their third straight win after thrashing Compostela Valley Gold 100-54, on Tuesday afternoon in the ongoing secondary boys basketball of the 2019 Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet held at the University of Southeastern Philippines (Usep) Gym.
The win came on the heels of a carnage over the Davao del Norte Pioneers, 104-84, on Monday afternoon after whipping the hapless Mati Eagles during the opener earlier in the day.
The ever-reliable Vince Petdeo Cuajao of Holy Child College of Davao (HCCD), who is in his last Davraa stint, dropped 26 points to lead the Durians who are mentored by the multi-titled tandem of Nestor “Tating” Sorrosa and Roger Rabago. The Durians are aiming to return to the Palarong Pambansa and improve on their silver medal finish last year.
Lamb of God Sped Academy (LGSA)’s Miguelito Manuel chipped in 20 points while Askiah Echavia of the Davao Jones Academy (DJA) added 12, towing the Davraa three-time defending champion to a clean 3-0 slate.
The Durians will have to play two more games to go before moving forward to the semifinals.
Today at 9:00 am, the Durians will take on the Davao Oriental Sunrisers, followed by their final elimination game on Thursday against Panabo City Banana Magnates.
