Host and reigning overall champion Davao City asserted its might in several disciplines to stay on top of the table with a huge harvest of 43 medals after two days of action in the 2019 Davao Regional Athletic Association (DAVRAA) meet.
As of 2:00 pm on Tuesday, the Durians have amassed 17 gold medals to go with 20 silvers and six bronzes as action went full throttle in the week-long regional sports conclave for elementary and secondary athletes.
Hostilities are in full blast with games at various venues including the University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao Davao City Sports Complex which is being primed for this year’s Palarong Pambansa.
Trailing behind Davao City is Tagum City Tagumpay with a 10-4-1 gold-silver-bronze haul, followed by Davao del Norte Pioneers at third with 7-1-9 and Panabo City Banana Magnates at fourth with 5-10-12.
The Digos City Trekkers is at fifth with 6-5-6 while the Davao del Sur Cobras (1-1-7) and the Davao Oriental Sunrisers (1-0-2) landed on the sixth and seventh spots, respectively.
The Davao Occidental Slashers placed eighth with 0-3-5, followed by Mati City Eagles at ninth with 0-3-0 and Compostela Valley Gold at 10th with 0-0-5.
The Island Garden City of Samal Waves, meanwhile, remains at the cellar with an empty basket.
The regional meet which serves as a qualifying leg for the Palarong Pambansa 2019 will end on February 2.
