Bukidnon Governor Jose Maria Zubiri, Jr. has lamented the “disinformation” campaign waged by his political detractors about the six-month suspension order issued against him by the Office of the Ombudsman.
Zubiri said that after his motion for reconsideration with the Ombudsman was denied, he sought for a restraining order from the Court of Appeals (CA) in Cagayan De Oro, which granted his petition.
The Ombudsman resolution that meted a suspension order against Zubiri was carried out on Nov. 11, 2016, which was posted by the political opposition in a Facebook account last Saturday.
“I still continue to dispose my duties and obligation as governor of the province of Bukidnon in contrast to the “disinformation” that I am currently serving the suspension order,” Zubiri said, citing the TRO issued by the CA,
Zubiri said that he received a copy of the CA resolution on Sunday. He said that the case against him was filed by Carlos Ycaro, a retired worker of the Bukidnon provincial capitol who used to head the general services department.
According to Zubiri, Ycaro accused the governor of refusing to sign his clearance and his request for commutation.
“What is ironic was that Ycaro accused me when I was no longer the provincial governor of Bukidnon at the time when he tried to obtain clearance from the provincial government,” Zubiri said.
Zubiri said that the provincial government at that time did not issue a clearance to Ycaro for his alleged failure to account the mono block chairs owned by the provincial government amounting to P3.25 million.
Ycaro also allegedly accounted only P868,472 out of the P8.1 million electrification project and supply equipment order, Zubiri said. (PNA)
