Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio commended the Task Force Davao for the apprehension of Cayamora Maute, the father of wanted terrorists Abdullah and Omar Maute, on Tuesday morning.
In her statement released by the City Information Office on Tuesday evening, the mayor particularly commended the team of Lt. Col. Nestor Mondia who intercepted the elder Maute along with his other companions Kongan Alfonso Balawag, his second wife, Nurhanna Balawag Maute, his daughter, Benzarali Tingaw, husband of Nurhanna and Aljon Salazar Ismael aboard a black Toyota Grandia Van at the military checkpoint in Sirawan, Toril.
She also lauded the Task Force Davao team “for always being alert, for their hard work, and for their unquestionable dedication to keep Davao City and the Dabawenyos safe from terrorists like the Maute brothers.”
According to Mayor Sara, the arrest of Cayamora Maute is a big step to end lawlessness and terrorism in Mindanao especially in Marawi City.
“The apprehension of the patriarch of the notorious Mautes is crucial in the government’s efforts to end the reign of terror experienced in Marawi and the entire Mindanao these days.”
She also said that “this is an important development in our collective fight to reclaim peace and defeat lawlessness and terrorism, and all that threatens our freedom and future.”
The mayor also called for the Dabawenyos to always support the soldiers and the police, and the government.
