All systems go for TESDA enrolment

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is all set for its enrolment day on February 27 and 28 in the Davao Region, simultaneous with all regions nationwide.

“President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has given his directives that everyone who wants to undergo free skills and training programs will be accomodated,” said Mafel Joan Negrido Mafale, information officer TESDA XI during the AFP-PNP Southern Mindanao Press Corps Media Briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel on Wednesday.

The two-day enrollment will be held at Almendras Gym for Davao City, Panabo Gym for Davao Del Norte, all municipal gyms in Compostella Valley and Baywalk Grounds in Mati City for Davao Oriental.

She said that it doesn’t matter whether the interested applicant is a rebel returnee, Muslim and Indigenous People (IP). “The President said that we won’t wait for them, we will go to them and convince them that it is much better to be armed not with a  weapon but with skills,” she added.

The TESDA courses are supported by the  Department of Labor and Employment whose role is to provide jobs for graduates of TESDA courses.

She said that if there will be graduates of TESDA program with National Competencies (NC) certificates will be assisted to apply for jobs.

“If they still lack the skills required to be employed on the spot then that’s when the TESDA will come in to help them,” she said.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines will also have its part on this activity because TESDA in ensuring the safety of the people during the two day event.

Applicants must bring National Statistics Office certified birth certificates. TESDA will no longer accept local civil registrar issued birth certificate.

She said that they also welcome those Over-seas Filipino Worker (OFW) especially those from Kuwait to enroll.

“The President has likewise directed us that all OFWs especially those from Kuwait will be prioritized to be given free skills training. When we say free skills training this does not only pertain to tuition fees  but  also free assessment fees, free food and mobility allowances as well as or rebel returnee, our Muslim brothers and sisters and the IPs we wil give them allowances and starter tool kits,” she said.

She that TESDA will see to it that whatever they need will be provided.
