The National Bureau of Investigation-Davao Region (NBI-Davao Region) gathered additional evidence during the reenactment conducted on Monday of the July 2 bar shooting incident in Davao City.
Investigator Juhary Guro told Edge Davao the additional evidence would be help the case for the victim Amierkhan Mangacop and his family.
“Ang purpose for me kaya nag-conduct ako ng reenactment is to determine kung totoo ang mga sinasabi ng mga witnesses. Yes, so far, we gathered additional information in favor of the victim,” Guro said in a phone interview.
Guro also said that the parents of Mangacop already allowed for their son’s body to be autopsied. He said a medico legal was already en route Monday evening to Cotabato where the victim’s body was brought after the shooting incident.
“Pumayag na ang parents na ma-autopsy kasi sa mga Muslims bawal i-autopsy pero pumayag na sila. Meron ng medico legal na proceeding to Cotabato to conduct the autopsy,” Guro said.
In a statement, the Mangacop Family formally requested an autopsy in a letter submitted to NBI-Davao Region. Due to religious and cultural reasons, the family was initially reluctant; but in the quest to fight for justice for the death of Ameirkhan, the Mangacop Clan acceded to the exhumation.
The reenactment is part of NBI-Davao Region’s activities in its parallel investigation to Mangacop’s murder case.
The officials of NBI 11 vowed to dig deeper and conduct a thorough parallel investigation in the case of Mangacop after the City Prosecutor’s Office issued an order requiring all investigative units to submit additional pieces of evidence.
These developments are related to the shooting incident on July 2, 2022, wherein Dr. Marvin Rey Andrew Roflo Pepino, PNP Non-Uniformed Personnel of PRO 11 and son of the late Police BGen Marvin Manuel Pepino, shot Mangacop at the parking area of Lugar Bar in J. Camus Extension, Brgy. 9-A, Davao City in Davao City.
The NBI 11 has six remaining days to conduct its own investigation and submit findings and additional evidence.
