Young Entrep Tops Chamber Election

A young lady entrepreneur topped last Saturday’s 51st annual election of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc.

Ms. Jennifer Ellen D. Dumlao

She is Jennifer Ellen D. Dumlao, corporate secretary and managing director of SVLand Corporation, and owner of JEDD Real Estate (Citrine Court) and JEDD Real Estate Brokerage.

Ms Dumlao garnered 61 of the 68 votes cast by chamber membersin the election which was  supervised by an election committee headed by Honorary Consul General of Bangladesh to the Philippines Joji Ilagan-Bian, DCCCII past president, with Delia M. Ladao and Protacio “Cocoy” Tacandong, also past chamber presidents, as members.

The election is done every year to choose five chamber trustees who will replace trustees whose two terms have expired and are no longer qualified to run.

After being proclaimed winners, the five new trustees join the chamber’s 10 trustees whose terms have not expired and elect the following year’s board of officers headed by a president.

Both elections for the five trustees and for the board officers are supervised by the election committee whose decisions on electoral matters are final and cannot be appealed.

Dumlao is the first member of the Davao City Young Entrepreneurs Association (DCYEA) to be elected to the DCCCII board of trustees (BOT).

The group was formed this year with the guidance and encouragement of  DCCCII President Arturo M. Milan who said the young entrepreneurs are  mostly millennials who are owners of local business ventures.
