GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC), together with partner airlines, promoted new flights and services of Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) to Davao City’s travel and tour operators during a Sales Mission on Wednesday at Marco Polo Hotel Davao.
“Davao is a very important market to us so we continuously reach out to our tourism stakeholders through this sales mission,” GMCAC Chief Executive Advisor Andrew Harrison said.
Harrison also said during the press briefing that they will be pleased to support and to take part of any opportunity for the upgrading of Davao International Airport.
GMCAC is the private company managing the terminal operations and other related areas of MCIA. They aim to institutionalize the sales mission yearly starting off in Davao.
Part of the sales mission is to study the Davao market to improve their services. GMCAC Head for Airline Marketing and Tourism Development Aines Librodo said that a sales coordinator will mainly focus on Davao City for constant coordination with the travel industry in the market.
“We try to make sure that your experience of traveling through air becomes a very happy experience. 63 percent of the people are stressfully traveled by air. Our job is to take that stress away,” Harrison added.
Partner airline, Tiger Airways Taiwan, improved its profit by doubling it to 100 million NS$ as they started their flights from Cebu to Taipei through Mactan-Cebu International Airport last year.
“We are now looking to extend our network in the Philippines for more flights to and fro Taipei,” said Bernard Hsu, director & spokesman of Tigerair Taiwan.
Two new Chinese airlines recently commenced direct flights to China from MCIA last week.
MCIA is now connected to 32 domestic and 21 international destinations with 8 Philippine-based airline and 18 foreign airline partners.
GMCAC airline partners for the sales mission: Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Air Asia, Cathay Dragon, China Eastern Airlines, Emirates and Tigerair Taiwan.
