Using agricultural crops banana and abaca as inspirations for the design of the exterior, Damosa Land Inc’s (DLI’s) 15-storey Diamond Tower is expected to become another landmark in Davao.
Diamond Tower is located within the company’s IT Park in Damosa and is the third high-rise building within the Damosa IT Park.
DLI Vice President Ricardo “Cary” Lagdameo said the design of the exterior of the building resembles banana and abaca fibers which, when completed, will look like waves from the distance.
“Parang naglalaro yung mga waves in the distance at may kuwento talaga yung building hindi lang parang its just four walls. This is going to be the landmark building of Davao when it is finished, I hope. When we see tourism ads and see Pearl Farm in those videos, hopefully when they show videos of Davao, they will show our Diamond Tower,” he said.
He added that the design of the building also demonstrate the family’s engagement in agriculture businesses.
“The reason we feel very strong about is is because when we have the building design, we told our architect that our family is into agriculture so how to translate that into the architecture of the building? That was my challenged,” he said.
The construction of the Diamond Tower is at light speed and the company is eyeing to top off the building by the end of the year.
Lagdameo said in terms of construction, they are now about 45 percent complete.
“We only started this in December of last year and to date we have about seven floors already and we are looking to top off the building by end of the year, hopefully,” he said.
The demand for office space in Davao City, according to the Damosa executive, is expected to continue as the demand for office buildings in the city is still very robust and a lot of the existing BPOs are looking at an outstanding operations.
Lagdameo added that a number of companies are really looking into Davao for opportunities and these people need office spaces. He mentioned that Regus Business Center, a working place solutions provider that is located in the DLI-owned Topaz Tower in Damosa is still continuing to be one of the most profitable Regus in the whole country.
“Our Regus Business Center still continue to one of the most profitable Regus in the whole country and the biggest. It is the first co-working space in Davao,” he said.
