Cebu Pacific reports 33.4% passenger growth in Jan.

Low-cost airline Cebu Pacific (CEB) flew 2.6 million passengers last month, up 33.4 percent compared to January 2024 tally.

“January traffic saw strong passenger demand, fueled by holiday travel and the airline’s network and capacity expansion over the past year,” CEB president Alexander Lao said in a statement on Friday.

The Gokongwei-led carrier caters to 124 routes, compared to 104 in the same pariod last year.

“Throughout this year, we are committed to optimizing our capacity to meet the rising consumer demand along with the need to manage ongoing engine and supply chain issues,” Lao said.

CEB’s international passenger traffic grew by 29.9 percent year over year. International network also grew, serving 40 routes compared to 36 in January last year.

Domestic passenger traffic was also up by 34.6 percent. The growth was attributed to the strong demand during the New Year holidays.

Additional frequencies and new routes were introduced in 2024 to support this growth. Domestic network totaled 84, up from 68 in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, CEB also reported its seat capacity grew by 31.2 percent, while its seat load factor has increased to 86.5 percent compared to 85.1 percent. (PNA)
