The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has ordered all police station commanders to prepare their men for the possible return of anti-illegal drugs campaign to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
This after President Duterte bared his plan to put the war on illegal drugs under responsibility of the PNP again.
DCPO spokesperson Sr. Insp. Maria Teresita Gazpan said that DCPO director Sr. Supt. Alexander C. Tagum already ordered all station commanders to prepare for this eventuality, including following up cases they were previously pursuing when the President ordered the PDEA to take over the campaign.
“The case build-ups are still pending as the target personalities and cases were turned over to PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency). If the these targets are not yet arrested until now that’s why we’ll follow them up as soon as the campaign will be given back to us, ” she said.
In a press briefing on Monday, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed having heard the President is inclined to give back the war on drugs to the PNP.
However, until the document is signed by Mr. Duterte, the war on drugs remains the responsibility of PDEA,” he said.
