Police stations ordered: Solve crimes in 24 hours

The Police Regional Office 11 will implement a one-strike policy to all police officers this coming Christmas season.

PRO 11 public information officer Chief Insp. Andrea G. Dela Cerna said the policy is based the order by PNP Chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa to dismiss station commanders automatically if they failed to solve any crimes arising from indiscriminate firing.

“Within 24 hours, if the case will not be solved, if the suspect will not be immediately identified the higher office will relieve the station commander or the chief of police,” she said.

Dela Cerna said the PNP wanted to avoid any crimes made by indiscriminate firing because of some incidents from the past. She said last year the PNP did not practice muscle taping of their firearms during holiday season unlike in the past.

Dela Cerna said all PNP units are now preparing for their security plan for Christmas and New Year. She said, aside from the one-strike policy order of the PNP chief, the PRO 11 also has its own one-strike policy.

Dela Cerna said that PRO 11 regional director Chief Supt. Manuel R. Gaerlan already relayed Dela Rosa’s order to all station commanders in the region.

She said chief of police will be relieved from the position if their police will be overrun by the lawless armed groups.

“Kapag na atake ang kanilang stasyon at nakita na wala man lang naka-retaliate sa mga lawless armed groups, hindi nakapaghanda so isa yan sa one-strike policy ng ating regional director (If their police station will be attacked by the lawless armed groups and no retaliation and no defense preparation could be seen on their part, that will subject for the one-strike policy),” she said.

Dela Cerna said Gaerlan told all police officials to intensify their security operations in their respective area of responsibility because December 26 is the anniversary of Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army (CPP-NPA). With this, the rebel group might launch an attack during that time.
