After the immediate approval of the Davao City council on the P5 Million aid for Marawi City’s rehabilitation, Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio could give additional assistance by next year.
“Next year, siguro mga mid-year, mid-2018 or same time 2018, tan-awon how they used the P5 million, maybe we can give more (Next year, maybe around mid-year or same time, we will see how they used our P5 million and maybe we can give more),” the mayor said.
Duterte-Carpio bared she was supposed to ask P10 million from the disaster fund for the Marawi aid.
“Ginabalanse nato, from now November 7 until December 31, simbako og naay mahitabo (I am weighing it, from now November 7 until December 31, God forbid, something will happen). My first priority is to protect Davao City,” she said.
She said the city now has a total disaster fund of P91 million for this year after the aid was approved and will be given to Marawi City.
Duterte-Carpio said if there are no calamities or other disaster that will hit the city, the remaining disaster fund will be placed in a trust fund.
However, the mayor said there will be a new disaster fund coming from the 2018 Annual Budget of the city government.
The mayor said she already talked to Marawi City Majul Usman Gandamra last Saturday and the latter told her they already declared the city under state of calamity.
