DTI unveils new brands at MTE

A round twenty-seven new brands—outcome of the Department of Trade and Industry Region 11 brand equity development program—were launched at the opening of Mindanao Trade expo- Christmas Event starting on Monday until December 17 at the Activity Center of Abreeza Mall Davao.

Organized by Mindanao Trade Expo Foundation Inc. (MTEFI), the event aimed to

assist MSMEs in showcasing its products and services during the Christmas season.

Ma. Belenda Ambi, regional director of DTI XI said the DTI started its Brand Equity Development Program as part of its newly launched programs. It is part of department’s new strategic initiatives in a bid to develop and promote new and highly potential homegrown brands.

“This is to develop home grown new brands for promotion both domestic and international markets,” said Ambi.

Ambi said that they recognize using brands and make it known; seller will be more competitive whether in the local international program and positive to the consumers the will relate it to quality and taste of the product where you can demand your prize.

Ambi said that there were 27 exhibitors / participant of micro, small and medium enterprises who enrolled and passed the program underwent the following set of activities: Phase 1 – Brand Equity development Seminar and Consultation by Geiser Maclang, Phase 2 – Brand Design and Seminar/ Workshop and Consultation by Bluethumb Design Studio and Phase 3 – Digital Mareting and E-commerce Seminar and Consultation by Sinag Consultancy Group.

According from Ambi that these 27 seven Trademark Application came from Davao City which has a 13 participants, Davao del Norte with 4 participants, Compostela Valley with 4 participants, Davao del Sur with 3 and Davao Oriental with 2 participants.

“The products of our participants and their brands will be part of MTE- Christmas Event’s Special setting.” she said.

Furthermore, Ambi said that local graphic designers were hired to improve the brand logo and design of the participating MSMEs and eventually, had their trademarks registered in coordination with Intellectual Property Office.

“The program is a concrete response of the Agency to help in achieving the deliverables set under the Negosyo at Trabaho component of the Philippine development Plan 2017-2020 and in realizing the goal of a Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Buhay otherwise referred to as the Ambisyon Natin 2040,” she said.
