The consultant of the Davao-based People’s RevGov for Real Democracy has urged the Filipino people to give their mandate to President Duterte to declare a revolutionary government by May 2019.
“The question as to whether or not it will be bloody will be handled well by the revolutionary government with the help of the Filipino masses and the military as protector of the people,” said Architect Florencio “Chito” Gavino.
He said the shift to revolutionary government will usher in a type of an authoritarian government similar to Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.
“Take note that these countries progressed tremendously under authoritarian rule,” he said. “Why cannot the Philippines follow the same path?”
Citing a Pew poll, Gavino said “half of Filipinos favor autocratic rule. Let us trust the capability of the Filipinos to adapt.”
Gavino said the main reason behind an urgent call for a revolutionary government in a democratic way is the people’s frustration with slow paces of promised reforms arising from a weak bureaucracy and an obstructive legislative and judiciary bodies.
The reforms can be hastened by a revolutionary government, Gavino said.
He said foremost among the reforms is the establishment of a federal system ‘for lasting peace, sustainable prosperity and full democracy.’
He said the possibility also exists that Congress will be unable to pass a draft of a federal constitution because the Senate will not able to muster the required three-fourth votes.
Gavino said the people’s mandate can be expressed through voting in an election or in nationwide signature campaign.
He said through a people’s mandate, President Duterte can declare a revolutionary government to free the country from “Filipino imperialists and give us full democracy.”
He referred to ‘Filipino imperialists’ who are citizens of the Philippines having extra-ordinary political and economic control of our people and places and are mostly based in Metro Manila.
“They are the Filipino oligarchs, extravagant elite, unscrupulous and greedy big business persons and traditional politicians who are in existence since the Philippine independence,” he said.
Gavino projected that the envisioned revolutionary government will be established peacefully like EDSA 1 through people’s mandate.
“We foresee Filipinos nationwide through a people’s initiated signature campaign that will give their mandate to President Duterte to declare a revolutionary government and to undertake an honest-to-goodness constitutional reform for the adoption of a new federal charter,” he said.
It being bloody can be predicted that reward money for anybody who could provide information in identifying the killers of Panabo City-based publisher Dennis Denora scaled up to P1 million, Task Force Denora revealed on Monday.
Consultant of the Davao-based People’s RevGov for Real Democracy
This came about after the Davao del Norte provincial government under Gov. Anthony del Rosario authorized the release of P500,000, ramping up the reward earlier raised to P1 million.
In a press conference, police officers P/Supt. Louwe A. Padillo and P/Supt. Alan Manibog, provincial director of Davao del Norte, revealed that ballistics results conducted on the bullets that killed Denora on June 7 matched those used in five other killings in the region.
Both police officers did not specify the victims in the five other killings except to say these occurred in the region.
They were also tight-lipped on where the five other killings occurred.
The same gun, they said, was apparently used in all killings.
They said the ballistic results were conducted at the Camp Crame crime laboratory itself.
They also denied they had several persons of interests or suspects that may lead to the resolution of the case.
The police officers said the task force is following up on leads and firming up evidences before they would come out with identities.
They also said they would not say if the triggerman/triggermen are home-grown or if they are imported from outside the region.
They said they are also not prepared to reveal the motive behind the killing of Denora.
“Please bear with us because by completing the evidences we may be able to pinpoint also who is behind the killing of Denora,” they added, saying that the pieces evidence should also be able to stand in court.
At the same time, Padillo appealed to those who were with Denora just hours before he was gunned down to submit themselves to the task force for interview in case they have pertinent information that could help solve the case.
The police officer said Denora was with a group of his fraternal brothers watching an NBA finals game, just hours before he was killed.
The task force also encouraged members of the Davao del Norte press community to immediately notify the task force in case of perceived threats to their lives.
The task force revealed it would able to give an updated report and reveal more information this coming Friday. (JKL)
