DAVAO CITY – Former Monkayo, Compostela Valley Province (ComVal), mayor Joselito B. Brillantes was designated regional president of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) in southern Mindanao as part of the party’s effort to “organize Federalism” in the entire region.
Brillantes, a one-time senior ComVal board member and official PFP candidate for municipal mayor of Monkayo in the midterm elections, was also imbued with the task to “galvanize the [PFP’s] unwavering support for the campaign of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for Federalism and against corruption, illegal drugs, criminality and poverty.”
The appointment was signed by PFP national secretary-general Thomson Lantion.
Just last week, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) accredited the PFP as a national party in the 2019 polls.
The PFP is an umbrella organization of different groups supporting President Duterte and will coalesce with the Hugpong ng Pagbabago, a regional party founded and headed by Davao City mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
Agrarian reform undersecretary and then incoming PDP president Castriciones presented the accreditation to the press in the presence of PFP founder Atty. Jayvee Hinlo; PFP Calabarzon president, former Laguna governor ER Ejercito; PFP national secretary-general Lantion, a retired police general; PFP national capital region chair and Quezon City vice mayor Joy Belmonte; Oriental Mindoro Rep. Rey Umali, and retired police general Abubakar Mangelen.

Among those who are eyeing the gubernatorial seat are TESDA director-general Guiling Mamondiong for Lanao del Sur, tourism assistant secretary Daniel Angel Mercado for Zamboanga del Sur, governor Esmael Mangudadato for Sultan Kudarat, and governor Hermilando Mandanas for Batangas. (JKL)
