Ironman 70.3 tickets sold out in 15 minutes

The Ironman 70.3 to be held on March 24, 2019 is a much awaited event not only by the local triathletes but also by international triathletes.

During the registration for the event at Seda Abreeza Hotel along J.P. Laurel Ave, Poblacion District, Davao City, on Monday, Princess Galura, general manager of Sunrise Events, revealed that that the 2,200 slots were sold out 15 minutes after the registration started.

“We are so happy because I know Davao will sell well, but I did not know that it will sell that fast because based on our records in Cebu the 3,000 slots were sold out in 22 minutes, but here our 2,200 slots were sold in just 15 minutes,”  Galura said.

“It is overwhelming, we did not expect this, as early as 3:20 in the morning someone is already in the line,” said Michael Aportadera, office-in-charge of Sports Development Division-City Mayor’s Office.

She said that they expected an increase of participants for the next Ironman 70.3, so from 1,800 slots they increased it to 2,200 slots.

However, with the quick demand of the slots some participants are having troubles in registering for the event.

“We are waiting for all the slots to get paid, because the payment will depend on the internet speed, the accuracy of the credit card details so there is a process. If there are some issues on their credit card information or paying process the slot will be open again for others,” she said.

She said that since Filipinos are faster in registering, only around 30 percent of the participants will be from foreign countries.

The almost perfect race will be improved to further satisfy the participants.

“Last year was almost perfect, but there is no perfect race so we should add more water, add more electrolytes and we should service them more,” she said.

She said that there will still be Irongirls which will be held on March 22 and Ironkids will be on March 23.

“It will be a full weekend fun here in Davao City,” she said

The Sunrise Events has a contract with the Davao City to host the Ironman 70.3 for three straight years and can be renewable for two or three more years.
